Sub for Episode 1 is up now!

After debating with myself for a while, I've decided to only upload the sub. I wanted to upload the hard sub so everyone can enjoy with ought having to download, but I didn't want to get banned from internet for copyright infringement. SO PLEASE prepare the video by yourself. I recommend you to download the original video(RAW) from the torrent I posted on the download page just so the timing will be right. If you want to hard sub, please do so on your own. And if you want to upload that vid on internet, you can, but I won't hold any responsibility at all. If you ever get banned or caught, I am totally not a part of it, so beware.
And about the spell check, now that I decided not to hard sub, if you ever used Aegisub to spell check, send the file to me and I'll use it to fix the problem and credit you for being a part of spell checking. So please do! The more spell checkers, the merrier... For other rules, please read my past posts.

And to watch the video with sub, download and install VLC Player then drag and drop both the Tanoshii Moomin Ikka original vid (episode one RAW) and the above .ass file(the sub file) at the same or about the same time on the VLC Player window, and viola! Enjoy the rest. For how to hard sub, please go google it, or I might post the tutorial later on.

The next episode should be a lot quicker. Sorry for letting you wait, but I hope you keep following and enjoy the show.

Sorry for the long wait

Hello everyone. As the title say, I apologize for taking so long. Ever since I started translating episode one, I got two jobs to occupy most of my week and keeping my motivation was pretty hard, for this was my first time translating a 30 minute long video. Also, I've been struggling from trying to figure out how I should work out with the spell checking... Conclusion: Everything. Just. Ate. Time.

 Anyway, I finished translating the first episode and came up with a more easier system of spell checking so everyone can enjoy(Well, I hope so.) And I call it: WHOEVER WANTS TO SPELL CHECK CAN FREELY SPELL CHECK SYSTEMMMM!! I'll upload the translation so anyone who wants to spell check can download, fix, then send it back to me so I can choose the most fitting lines to the final translation. Of course, there will be dead lines. But even after the dead line, I'll keep the translations up in case.

The RAR file both contains the .ass(Aegisub file) and .txt file so both of those who have the video or not can check my translation/fix the line/etc. I advise you to download the video with a torrent (or I'll upload the vid soon) and fix my translation so you can get the mood and the character's feelings.

I did my best to make my translation accurate so there might be terrible grammar, parts where it sounds funky, or as if I got a line from an english text book, so PLEASE fix them.

For the dead line, I was thinking like a week or two from now, but if you need more time, please comment or send me a private message, and I'll tell you all when the new dead line is.

Okay, the deadline for now is... July 21st, exactly two weeks from this post.

Thanks for waiting and I hope you cooperate. I'll do my best so that this Moomin project would be great as possible where everyone can agree and enjoy to the translations.

In middle of working

Keep your heads up! Episode 1 will be coming soon. BTW, I'll be needing spell checkers soon, so send me an email if you have time and wants to become part of this. (For those who sent me an email earlier, send it to me again just incase.) We can talk together to figure things out. The more the marrier!

For the names of the characters, I decided to use the english names because they're easier for me. For those who answered on the poll that they wanted Finnish, I'm very sorry! It's just that looking up the names every time a new character comes up is just too much for me...

and also, if there's anyone who can translate english to other languages(other than english and Japanese, ofcourse), they're always welcome to use my translation to sub Tanoshii Moomin Ikka with Finnish subtitles or in any other language. Just credit me for the Japanese -to-> English translations. And, if you don't know how to use Aegisub or other subbing programs, they can always just send me the translation and I can add them to the vids. I'm not superly pro with using Aegisub(I still don't know how to do the fancy karaoke effect...) but I know somewhat.

Help!

These past few weeks, I've been trying to come up and organize how to sub the videos more efficintly/faster/easily. Before, I was going to rip the DVD's that I had, but one of the followers found the torrent for all 78 episodes, so I decided to sub them instead. Thanks, Matthias!

Unfortunately, I've been stuck on downloading the first episode for about a week now because there's no seeders. If you have enough memory space on your computer, intrested in downloading the raw in high quality, or have a hard drive, please download them then seed. And ofcourse, when I finish downloading all the episodes, I'll rip and upload the movie.

Poll Question #1

Here's a question for you all regarding to the sub. On the last post, I said there was a difference in character names for the original Moomin and the Japanese version. For those who are used to the Finnish name might want the original name used in the sub, but since the video will be in Japanese, and the Japanese names will be used throughout the whole series, I thought it might be easier to just use the japanese name to make it easier to hear, watch, and listen. What do you think? Please take a vote, and if you have any opinion, please comment!

Introduction

Thank you for visiting this blog! This is where you can view updates of the english subbed moomin episodes. Right now, I am trying to figure out how to post these episodes online in high quality. Here's a short description for the newbies.

What is "Moomin"?
Moomin is a children's book written by a Finnish writer Tove Jasson. The series revolve around a hippo - like character named Moomin, a innocent, adventurous boy who lives in Moomin Valley, with his friends (Little My(Mii in Japanese), a teasy, strong willed little girl, Snork Maiden, (or Floren in japanese version) a kind, gentle lady, Sniff, a rat-ish kangaroo like boy whose blind when it comes to treasures, and Snusmumriken (Snufkin in Japanese), an adventure loving boy who travels out of moomin valley to south every winter.) Moomin's parents (Moomin Papa and Mama) also takes a major part in this series. Moomin valley is so peaceful (and boring) that they always look for adventures to find fun games and interesting places.

Then, What is "Tanoshii Moomin Ikka?"
Tanoshii Moomin ikka(The fun Moomin family in english) is a third Moomin based anime TV series aired in Japan around 1990s that became very popular back in the days. (Sadly, I was only 2 when they aired, plus I was borne in America so I missed watching this series.) Some of the character setting was changed, like Snufkin smoking a pipe in the original but not in this series. The first two series was aired back in the old days, around when my mother was borne. These two had a much more different settings like snufkin playing a guitar instead of a Harmonica, looked more like a grown up, and most of all, the mood of the whole show was more dark and depressing for adults. This upsetted Tove, and the animation company were not approved to air any where else out of Japan. D; But thankfully, she liked Tanoshii Moomin Ikka and she allowed them to air this in different language dubs like English, FINNISH, German, etc. (info by Wiki)

So, why are you subbing them for?
Because one: The dubs were only made for very little amount of episode out of 100 and something episodes, and two: there were some "requests" of the english subs of Moomins. Recently, I've found some groups who were working on them, but they disappeared, so I decided to make 'em instead...

It's a kids show. Why should I even watch it?
I really like how Tove epressed Moomin Valley realistic but at the same time fantasy like world. The characters doesn't appear to be like humans but their personality are very human-like, and they feel and hold problems like we, peoples experience, and they teach you a very valuable lesson that we should learn from them to become a better person. They're energetic, fun, kind, and charming to watch, that makes me sucked in to this world that Tove Jansson created. I hope that you watch and find it the same way that I felt. Sure, some parts are slow, quiet, and boring, but I think those scenes proves that Moomin Valley is a peaceful, calm, and nice place.

Heck, Why does it take so long for the update?
Because currently, I am working on this BY MYSELF, from my lack of experience working in a sub group. If someone can teach me how, I'll be more than glad to hire any one who wants to become a part of this. I'll be needing all the workers needed except a translator, but I especially need a spell checker, incase I make any grammar mistakes. When you become a part of this, you'll be granted to access this blog, and watch the Moomin episodes alot earlier than anyone else. :D
